Peter Boyer has completed his first-ever commission for concert band, a work titled Curtain Raiser, composed to celebrate the 180th anniversary of The American Band of Providence. In a career which has included a large number of orchestral commissions, Curtain Raiser represents his first effort in the genre of concert band/wind ensemble, and contains some of his most jubilant and celebratory music.
Brian Cardany, director of The American Band, will conduct the premiere of Curtain Raiser at Rhode Island College (where Boyer received his Bachelor of Music degree) on November 5, 2017. Following that date, the new work will be available for performance by other concert bands and wind ensembles.
