The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra and conductor John Morris Russell have released a video of Boyer’s Rolling River (Sketches on “Shenandoah”) in their American Soundscapes video series.
The American Soundscapes series features videos recorded live in concert with the Cincinnati Pops, in partnership with CET Public Television. The series includes Aaron Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man (originally commissioned and premiered by the Cincinnati Symphony in 1943), several pieces by John Williams, and others.
Rolling River, Boyer’s first-ever orchestral setting of an American folk tune, was commissioned and premiered by the Cincinnati Pops. The orchestra has performed it some 20 times since its premiere in 2014.
