The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Cincinnati Pops have commissioned Boyer to compose a short new fanfare as part of their Fanfare Project. Inspired by the legacy of the CSO’s wartime fanfare project of 1942-43, which yielded Aaron Copland’s iconic Fanfare for the Common Man, the CSO has commissioned a group of thirteen distinguished composers to create short new fanfares, each for a single orchestral instrument, to be recorded at home by CSO musicians, due to the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Boyer composed a brief fanfare for solo horn, entitled Fanfare for Tomorrow, which was performed and recorded by CSO Principal Horn Elizabeth Freimuth. That video can be seen on the CSO website. An interview with Boyer by Cincinnati Public Radio can be heard here.
