Peter Boyer’s major work Ellis Island: The Dream of America will be performed by The Cleveland Orchestra, one of the world’s finest orchestras, in six concerts from April 18-21, 2023, at Severance Music Center. The performances will be conducted by Daniel Reith, Assistant Conductor of The Cleveland Orchestra. The actors are cast and directed by Donald Carrier of Case Western Reserve University.

The first of these Ellis Island concerts will be a free public performance on Tuesday, April 18, leading off TCO’s Mandel Opera & Humanities Festival, The American Dream. This will be followed by five additional educational performances of Ellis Island for young audiences.

The Grammy-nominated Ellis Island is Boyer’s best-known and most-performed work. The Cleveland Orchestra is the 116th orchestra to perform it, and these will be the 261st to 266th performances, since its 2002 premiere.
